Started using an old lure again

Started back this year using an old lure because it cast like a bullet and I need to reach a cetain spot during mudddy water. I first learned of this lure some ~40 years ago in an article written about a man who used it on the Chipola River in Florida for shoal bass. This lure is practically snagless and like I said it cast like a bullet.

Nugget has caught me lots of crappie around brush and cover. It's killer on spring bass too. I think my brother lifted the last few I had.

The old Snagless Sally has been one of my favorite black water river/lake lures since I was fishing Phelps as a young fella. I lost my fair share of my uncle's Hildebrant lures to cheap mono line, poorly tied knots and lilly pads back then. Thanks for jogging the old memory banks.

Yes sir. Your pop got me using them along with an old Mann's soft plastic as a trailer. Had some pretty good days on eastern rivers fishing them. I still have a couple of those new in the pack. That lure and the Buzz Jewel were used more than I can recall.

I used to fish a Johnson's Silver Minnow spoon with an pork frog trailer a lot in the 70s. It cast like a bullet and would come through weeds & wood cover great.

Smoke and Watermelon firetail were my summertime go to Jelly Worm colors.

I used to actually MURDER the bass in Jordan as soon as it was filled with the snagless sally. fished it in the standing timber(knocked down at water lever during Fran) and could not keep them off the hook.

This is how I used to fish the Silver Minnow. Took it back out a few years ago and it still works.

A bait similar to that we used to use when I was growing up was a weed wing. We would put a plastic or pork trailer on it and wind across the grass at mattamuskeet, currituck, phelps or anywhere with a lot of grass. You would get 10 times as many bites as catches but it was so much fun.
