The McLean house where the Lee signed the surrender. I traveled to VA Monday for work and had some time to kill. Pretty cool place. The ranger opened it and let us in and was a walking encyclopedia.

They have some actual letters that some of the Confederate soldiers sent home. To paraphrase- Yesterday they tried to kill us, today they stood at attention as we walked by. The Ultimate show of respect. The Southern Army was starving and the Grant ordered they be given food rations.

Lynchburg - Richmond stage coach road to the left.

There were some BIG deer tracks right on that road. really looks like there would be some good hunting around there. I got a little lost on my way out going through either a state or National forest.

I recognized the house right away from the national site, but didn't know the name. We were there a couple of years ago.
