Lake James Walleye and White Bass

Hey guys, just wondering what the water temp on James is looking like with all this warm weather lately? What temp do the walleye start running generally? I read they start staging in about 50 degrees

Walleye spawn under the ice near iceout up north.... something to think about.

Acquaintance of mine was catching walleye recently out in the lake as a bycatch of bass fishing

Wait till the Dogwoods start blooming. or a week or two before.

Go to USGS and put in a location to get the water temps from anywhere...

The thing is they start to feed before and after the spawn as well. There's a reason in MN they would close the season mid-February and don't reopen it til May.

You could probably get out and start catching them now. They start to feed in anticipation of the spawn and afterwards as well.

Fish shallow-ish areas off points, dropoffs, with a jig with a minnow or a crawler harness.
