Old News....about 2 years ago

Bingo! There were almost 20 CWD positive deer found in 2015 on a shooting facility and a breeding facility in different counties. The recent case was also in a captive herd and was in a third county.

It is worth noting that most of the states to first find CWD over the last several years have found it in captive herds. And most of those herds had been in the USDA CWD prevention and monitoring program for more than five years. Clearly there is a lot of cheating going on among the operators of some "CWD certified" herds......

I reached out to a former colleague, a Cornell U. wildlife biologist who is specialist in diseases, to find out of this last Ohio facility is in the USDA certification program and, if so, for how long.

And most of the states who first found CWD in wild herds had non-existent or clearly inadequate monitoring programs in the years prior the discovery.
