It was 5 degrees the night we camped in the mountains. It was beautiful and a great time!

Looks like Northern Thailand; Chiang Mai? I spent portions of '65, '66, and '67 in North Central Thailand during the VN debacle and now I understand they have McDonald's and Kentucky Fried Chicken scattered all over the country. When I was there if you wanted to eat pretty much anywhere outside of Bangkok you had to frequent a street vendor, usually a lady with two big baskets of fixings hanging from a bamboo slat who'd flop her butt down in the dirt and start cooking on a little charcoal cooker she carried in one of the baskets. We weren't supposed to patronize them for health reasons but they turned out some great food.

The Thais are some of the nicest people you'd ever want to meet and I'll carry those memories to the grave. Glad you had a good visit.

Chaing Mai is correct. When your on the perimeter of the old city there are a ton of street vendors that provide awesome food. And the elephants were all doing well.
