several acres growing nicely after the rain. mostly winter peas and oats with some other stuff mixed in. bad pic so hard to see a good portion that just sprouted. planted the majority of this field back around labor day.
I took these two pictures yesterday. There was soil moisture when I planted them, so they came up well despite the lack of rain. Pretty much looks the same as last year. Radish and a mix of Crimson clover, oats, and winter wheat. There's a few more like those, but they all look the same.
The rain this week breathed new life into this plot. The other couldn't hold the moisture, from previous rain, long enough to take hold. This one extends down the hill and into a small flat.
Edit: I was in my blind a few hundred yards away, watching acorns, when this was taken.
Haha. Tell them to send it by way of old mossy horns. I was/am behind the learning curve and power curve this year. I've got high hopes and, good Lord willing, more time for this spring.
Went & spread 250lbs of rye, oats & 10lbs of brassicas before the rain came through last week. Had terminated my rye in the spring & tried to plant buckwheat & peas, they were wiped out quick. So letting the rye go on in the the summer next year for weed suppression.
Wasn’t able to cut out my food plot with the track popping off our rental machine back last month, so decided to simply broadcast & pack in front of the stands along the firebreaks.
my very first serious try on planting plots , with a little advice from HR Carver I think they turned out phenomenal!! Deer are hitting them hard too!! I'm sold on food plots now!!
Heres my fall plot I tried out the real world harvest salad this year it's got oats, winter wheat, rye grain and winter peas in it I also added in some radish.
