the idea to use this is blatantly stolen from the hunting beast forum. i had never used it prior to their info.

released from an elevated position it will show you almost as much as smoke on wind/scent movement.

Thank you for sharing this tip for a free wind direction check while hunting. I love the old school knowledge that I learn and that I'll be able to pass down to my kids some day.

dang,,,,,,,milkweed is the original wind checker,,,,,,,been used since pre-historic times,,,,,,,surpised it took a website for folks to realize that,,,,,,,,,it's in books, historical documents, and passed from mentor to mentee since time began,,,,,,,

another good one is dried cattail seed heads (called bodkins where I grew up),,,,,,,,lots of good wind indicators out there,
