I don't hunt early season. I usually wait until late September to early oct before I start. I hate chiggers and mosquito and the heat. When temps get around 50, I start getting serious.

So far we've been to elk river falls, had lunch in banner elk, and done a little fishing. My son and I caught our first freshwater trout too. The watauga river is literally in the back yard.

Elk River Falls is a great place to fish also. There's always a few leftover stocked trout there. I've caught and saw some big ones there over the years.
