It has been too long ago to remember names but I recall a couple of them, one particularly smug individual, who acted as the ultimate authority on certain points, points which are still the focus of a lot of conjecture. I would have preferred Shelby Foote do the entire series; really enjoyed listening to that man talk. We lost a great source of knowledge when he died.

This I do not doubt.. Many soldiers would leave things behind in plain view even after being told to bury their trash, that didn't help matters either as that let the VC and NVA know that American soldiers were in or had been in that area...
