In the aftermath of a somewhat recent ruling against Lowe's where a leftwing nut job lawyer convinced an even more idiotic Judge to rule that Lowe's was guilty of false advertising with lumber dimensions another tinfoil hat wearing group is now going after Menard's and Home Depot. http://www.jsonline.com/story/money...uits-over-descriptions-lumber-size/405300001/
The claim is the merchants are profiting by pricing lumber as if it is full dimension while selling undersized material. They will probably win based upon the judgment against Lowe's and is further proof that our legal system is completely void of any and all common sense. Industry standards for the past 3-4 decades have been that actual sizes are typically 1/2" to 3/4" under the "nominal dimension" that lumber is bought, sold and used. That said, one would also think that HD and Menard's would have learned from their competitor's lost case and added footnotes on their labeling to claim a 4x4 is 3-1/2" x 3-1/2" (something Lowe's did after losing millions in the judgment against them).
