I seen them and started counting,,,,didn't believe it at first,,,,,never would have though she'd lay so many eggs,,,,,guess they have to hatch enough to feed the turtles, herons, hawks, and other critters,,,,,,,,

Wood ducks and hooded mergansers will sometimes nest dump their eggs into another nest/box. Seen a hen Wood duck leading 7 of her own and 4 hoodie chicks on our swamp.
Hope she does a good job.

They can raise up to like 24 I believe?
Extremely likely it was a dump nest though. My boxes this year both had over 20 eggs but hens will only lay around 12.

Wood ducks will actually lay eggs in multiple places on purpose apparently.
