ocean isle beach intracoastal waterways fishing this labor day weekend

I don't have ocean fishing rod, so waterway fishing is the only option. Besides, I think waterway fishing might be better than ocean pier fishing. Am I right? Where are the fishing spots on the bank as I don't have a boat? What fishes should I try to catch? What bait, hook size? Any fishing report in the area lately?

It's a hike but Shallotte Inlet has some decent flounder and puppy drum fishing. Live or cut bait. The town has a small pier on the ICW at the park you can try as well. Also, the area on the west side of the bridge, park at the boat ramp.
