Yellow Jacket Season Is In

If ya can spot em after the first pass you’re usually in luck. Ran over a nest with a walk behind bush hog in a little strip in cutover. Saw em on the second pass before they got me. Woulda been bad with no where to really run but down the strip.
First time I bush hogged my place in GA, I think I hit 7 yellow jacket holes and 2 bald face hornet nest. How I didn’t get the first sting that day I’ll never know.

You really wanna piss the little bastards off? Roll one up with a disc😳

Ya dodged a bullet, well actually 9 bullets on that one. Weird how some areas are loaded with em and some areas you hardly ever see em.

My so got lit up the other day by those dang things. He got hit by 16. They were in his pants befor he knew what happened. Stripped his shoes and jeans off in the yard and ran to the house. The nest was in the center of the yard, not a place I expect. I guess they had taken up in a locust hole.

Final count was 34 stings
Its not too bad except the ones on the face and above my lip
Looks like I went 3 rounds with that trans-gender boxing dude in the olympics 😃

What was odd, as mentioned above, these bees weren't quite as big as you'd think, but when they stung me they were stuck to me and I had to pull most of them off.

Got my dose of them this evening. Got hit three times before I came in the house. Pulled my shirt off and got a fourth sting right above my belt. Released 4 yellow jackets in the kitchen before I knew what was happening while my wife was cooking supper. Spent the next 15 minutes killing them with a fly swatter and totally interrupted cooking. I don't normally have any unusual symptoms of being stung by insects but I have had hiccups for 45 minutes now

Got on top of a nest day before yday, while turning around in a fence corner  . I bush hogged the nest, put a tire on top of it, then mowed it again while making my getaway. Thing was about the size of a soccer ball before I busted it open, but miraculously, I didn't catch a single stinger. I even watched them buzzing around me for probably another 75 yds while beating a retreat. This isn't my first time escaping such a catastrophy. Does anyone know the mechanism for this? Obviously they aren't real intellegent, or else my goose woulda been cooked. Are they pre-occupied with the violent movement of the mower? Are they going for the heat of the engine?. Or does the exhaust somehow camoflauge me? I'd really like to know this. :D In the meantime, I'll just keep real still, grit my teeth, and hope my luck holds out..

Papaw used to say that if you just acted like you never knew they were there that they would leave you alone…that hasn’t been my experience but my uncle swears that Papaw could get in em so bad they’d be all over the tractor and he’d never let on or stop🤷‍♂️

🤔 In my experience you usually act like you don’t know they’re there until you do know they’re there…because you only find out they’re there when they shove their buttsabers into you repeatedly.

Got tagged on the ear this time. 🤬
I think they were in a hay bale I have under the shed. Something will die later lol. Ammonia seemed to help. Ear and part of my right side is puffed up some but not as bad as last time.
