How does one acquire a falcon?
I just learned about this on a podcast. Sporting dog talk podcast with Tony Peterson. Episode 130 came out on July 7th. Google it and give it a listen. You have to go through an apprenticeship to get your falconry license. Which you learn how to catch a bird and the training process. What I was most impressed with is you can catch a wild bird and have it hunting under control in 10 days. The guest on the podcast does guided falconry hunts. https://www.ontheflyoutfitters.co/falconry

I had the opportunity to squirrel hunt many years ago with a guy who had a red-tailed hawk. That bird was impressive but I heard later on that the bird left never to be seen again. Supposedly red-tails are bad about that. ;)

It takes a lot of work and time to train one of these birds. You have to be really dedicated.

We had that feller join the forum recently who does falconry. That damned hawk thread prob run him off! On another note, if they did a class like this in the western region I’d go.
