Will it work to keep birds away?

Never ending battle is birds wanting to build nests on window above house door. I typically just rip then down once they start building but if I'm gone for a while it's a mess. Got two doorways with these windows so this year I'm attempting to scare them off with rubber snakes..... I think as long as I move every few days it will work but let's see.

you just need some bird spikes. yes, that's a thing
I thought about them but I figured it would attracked spider webs.... already an issue but pretty easy to clean out now with a damp rag. But I'll reconsider if the snake don't work.

Do you need the window for light? If you could do without that, maybe put a piece of flashing there on an angle during nesting season? Attach temporarily with a couple of very small screws and remove when not needed.

Well it's worked a little but now they are just finding other places near by that still is going to make a mess. I ordered some bird spikes gonna try velcro / command strips to attach and remove once nesting season is done.... got bird boxes and a number of standing dead trees for them to nest but the covered doorways seem to inviting. It has been pretty humorous to watch them try to land and see those snakes.

Well belive it or not they are working. Other then changing their positions once in a while the birds have given up trying to nest in the area
The Virginia mountain house i have used the bird spikes and so far they seem to work well.

Rubber snakes have worked so far..... no bird nests over either door. I used spikes at the cabin in VA and they have worked to keep the birds away.

I put the fake snakes up under the eaves of an outbuilding. It worked for about five years but now the birds don't pay any attention, they fly right past them and build their nests! Must be Marine birds, they adapted and overcame! Thank God the squirrels don't build there! Outsmarting wildlife is a never ending endeavor!
