I was supposed to go see them with my older brother in 1979(?) when Scholz broke his hand.
Aw man. Back in my teenage years I was so cool and edgy 😉 that I was “only into the heaviest most brutal death metal, dude.” But then I stumbled upon a buncha stuff from Boston. I reluctantly flipped back my long greasy hair and admitted that they “absolutely shred.”

In no particular order, here are a few great albums:

Songs About Jane
Aquemini
Wildflowers
Friction Baby
No Shoes, No Shirt, No Problem
August And Everything After
Jagged Little Pill

Telling the band names would be too easy…

I love some old school Slayer. I do think I prefer Seasons in the Abyss over South of Heaven , but they're both great albums.
Kerry King's new solo stuff isn't bad either, never was a huge fan of his but I dig the guitar stuff he's doing now.

Crazy that all the old thrash guys are 60+ now (the ones that are still alive that is)
I saw them right after Hanneman died. Although I regretted not seeing them sooner, Gary Holt did a damn good job filling in. I won’t disagree, seasons was a good one. What’s most impressive to me is how young they were when they released their first album. And the back story is one of em delivered pizza to the other guys having band practice and they recruited him.

Side note: imagine my teenage surprise when I started noodling around with their riffs and discovered dead skin mask, south of heaven, and reigning blood were all the same notes played in different orders lol

Honorable mentions:
I don't think Skynyrd made a bad album. 2nd helping is probably top to me, but honestly every one of their albums is solid start to finish.
Ozzy with Randy Rhoads is AMAZING, one of my favorite guitarists.
And VH 1 & 2 need no introduction, and fair warning has mean streets which is epic.
Appetite for Destruction is an awesome album.
Master of Puppets is a close 2nd to RTL to me.
And SRV's Texas Floods is just a great album.

Would you be willing to add a Pantera album to the honorable mentions?
Also, regarding Ozzy with Rhoads…this was easily 20 years ago, but I had a buddy that was a classically trained guitar wizard. He had figured out that one of the solos from bark at the moon was later used by trivium in one of their solos, but they played it backwards. Thought that was some cool metal nerd stuff

Absolutely.
Cowboys, Vulgar display, and The Great Southern Trendkill are all good albums. I love Dime and Pantera freaking rips, they have an amazing body of work. It just seems to me that the albums have some gaps. I hate that Dime was killed, I'd love to see what would have happened with DamagePlan

I grew up in a very poor urban part of charlotte till I was 15, only exposure I had to music was rock n roll from parents and hiphop & r&b. Since then my taste has changed but I will still play older stuff here and there but getting in my truck or playing on Pandora can be random and worlds apart.

I ain’t mad at ya. I once read a paper about the parallels between punk rock, hip hop, and outlaw country. There’s more in common than not.

And for what it’s worth, I was given the 36 Chambers album by a kid in school in 6th grade. I may still have it.

Boston’s guitar tones and harmonies were great. Good finished product when you have 3 guitarists
You may not know this, but.....

Tom Sholz played ALL the guitars on the original album recording. He actually recorded everything (all instruments), solo, sans the lead vocals and the drums.

**Edit....I didn't read all the posts before posting this.

**Edit 2 - whoever said 'August and everything after'................. (y)
