The best I have ever used is a meopta meostar 3-12x56. It is unreal how clear you can see after legal shooting time!
European fixed powers is going to be brighter then any variable will ever be
That's a decision each person has to make. However I would counter that when hunting an animal that is primarily nocturnal as most mature bucks are, that first couple minutes of legal shooting light or those last few minutes can make the difference between getting that target buck and not. I'm not saying you can't kill big bucks without it, it just maximizes the shooting window inside the legal limits. Is it worth $1600 to see a deer? If you need to see one if its that dark, isnt it past lst?
If it’s past legal shooting time I don’t shoot, regardless if I can see well enough to shoot, it’s called poaching... I don’t spend more than around 300-400 and can see after legal time anyway

Nope. I didn't say I knew them, just that they were not specifically "talking" about poaching in the thread above. If someone wants to poach, there are easier and cheaper methods than buying the high quality scopes everyone is recommending.Do you know everybody on this forum?
I broke down this year and picked up a nightforce 2.5x10-42 NXS. Its an incredible piece of glass and now I m trying to figure out how to get them on all my rifles.I wish I could afford a $1600 scope! Lol
How much are those?
