Just about time to see how these duplex tss/steel loads are going to perform. Hand loaded the first box, took awhile having to improvize on some materials but should be getting the right sized stuff in the next few days which will speed things up. Ought to smack em pretty good!IMG_2483.jpegIMG_2486.jpeg

Loaded a box of 7mm Mag and when placing the sleeve in the box (labeled) I realized I used the wrong data! Pulled, dumped and started over. Correct loads now are ready.. have a bunch of 308 cases to lube and prep for the tumbler that I start on tomorrow. Deciding if I want to do any 25-06 or just roll with what I have loaded for..

I didn't add to the thread a couple of days ago but did get a tumbler of 308 sized, trimmed, chamfered and cleaned. Loaded a box out of them and added the rest to my bag of prepped brass. I always like to prep extra for the times I need to load a few and don't have the time for prep.
Did lose one case to the scrap bucket that didn't pass my inspection.

I pulled 80 rounds of 300 Win Mag I got years ago in a trade. I have a rule that I do not shoot another’s reloads unless I know the person well. Boxes were labeled with sketchy info. One simply said “300 WM reloads”. 3 boxes simply said 4350 powder, no weight or IMR or H4350. Weighed the bullets and I now have 60 Speer 165 grns and 20 unknown mfg’er 180 grns.

^ per above post, lesson learned for me!
Backstory: last week I loaded a tray with brass to prep. I use Lee lube on all my bottleneck cases to size. Well, I lubed all 80 cases and proceeded to size, trim, chamfer and swage primer pockets on 5 to test in the rifles chamber to make sure I had the cases sized and shoulder bump correct. All good there but i had other things to do so let the others sit for a couple of days. (something I have never done) When I got back to the bench the first case all but got stuck going in the die! I thought I'd break something prior to getting that step done. I ended up having to re-lube every case to get then through the die. No biggie I guess but the Lee lube is "supposed" to be able to run after drying. Get all prep done and brass in a tumbler which has old media but works well. The dang lube wouldn't come off! So, I sifted it and put the brass in another tumbler with relative new media (I use cob). Ran overnight and still not cleaned! Thinking of grabbing another tumbler tub and putting new media from my box to start over, I found one of my tubs with a different media that I have no clue what it is. It appears to be (maybe) small ceramic ball shaped media so I thought, what the heck.. Put the bowl on and loaded it down. Ran for 2 hours and all is clean as can be! It came out with a slight abrasive look so I tossed em in another bowl to polish a bit as I like the corrosion protection the polish provides. All is now good and time to start working up an accurate load.
If you use Lee lube, don't make the mistake I did! In hindsight I would have been better off timewise to have simply washed the lube off with hot water and let it dry to start over...
Also, would anyone have any idea what the ceramic like media could be? Whatever it is had to have been in the tub when I got it many years ago and I just hadn't paid it any attention. Picking up things over the past years, I don't even remember where it came from...

Loaded up several batches of 25-06 with 110 accubonds and Retumbo. Gonna find a load that will shoot and will be a good deer load.

Always used 120gr Sierra gks over 7828. Will be moving to 115 Bergers since those game kings are now discontinued. Killed a slew of stuff with em and they always performed.
I’ve been shooting 117 hornady BTSP with IMR 4831 and really have no complaints. I like the accubonds in everything else so I bought some to see how they shoot. Also found some 120 Speer hot cor. So far this has become my favorite caliber.
