Western NC needs help.

I signed up for them as well, no operation in NC at the moment. Maybe tomorrow.
It is very generous of you to offer. My church group of men are going to try and get together tomorrow to help our elderly & other members with storm cleanup, but logistics are going to be a nightmare. I feel for Dan (UncleFester) in the coming days. He is on storm duty with Duke. I don’t know when I will see him or get my damage cleaned up.

@Deerjager keep me posted as well. I'm not sure where everyone is, but it looks like Rutherfordton and the lake Lure area would be good destinations to provide help. I think I could help more with down trees and wind damage more than flooding. I know they go hand in hand but I don't have a rescue boat.

If you told them you drink but, keep it quiet, you're in ! 👍
We were doing a project with the Baptist men in 2004 up in Clyde. Land slide excavation, by hand, couldn't get equipment in there...

After a long hard day of digging, we got back to the HQ and somebody with no money had given the boss man a half gallon jar of shine, cause he had no money. We were only allowed to give it a sniff. Sure did curl the nose hairs.

New River full of campers floating away
I actually wondered about the New River campgrounds earlier today. Having been there for multi days, and knowing cell signal is weak, I wondered. But I would think that surely the Wardens would hammer the campsites days ago and let everyone know of the impending doom. If not close all campsites a couple of days ago?

@LR308 Will do. We lost cell coverage and had to leave home to find a high spot with coverage. I will update more when I can. I know Dan & Darayl are safe. I cannot get ahold of @Silverback3 to check on him. He may be affected by the cell coverage disaster.

We have made our sojourn to find cell service. 😂😂 Interesting times here, there are massive lines at gas stations, no ice and the few restaurants open are swamped. The cleanup is starting in earnest now. The tree service companies will be making bank for weeks!

We still have not been able to reach our daughter in Cullowhee. WCU has a notice on their website about losing a cell tower in the area, but the campus is secure. We are concerned, but I know Sarah is resourceful.

Every road road into the Asheville region is closed due to the storm and I-40 is a mess. There is no way to even get near Cullowhee. I have attached a photo of the washed out I-40 near the Tennessee border.

Please keep the citizens of Chimney Rock in your prayers, the town is just about wiped out & washed away. Whatever the news is saying, it is worse.

@SnowMaker ,@Ol Copper ,@turkeyfoot and anyone in that area let me know what anyone needs. A few of us coastal bear hunters are discussing heading that way next weekend to do anything we can.
Thanks brother, we're still surveying the damage right now and it's significant. I'll be surprised if places aren't out of power for multiple weeks but idk. I'll be in touch
