Being a flatlander in the sandhills, I feel like we were blessed by not having devastating effects from this storm.

I feel compelled to head west with a chain saw and whatever else I can provide to help everyone dig out of this mess.

I'm not too familiar with that area of the state, but I'm willing to head that way if someone can give me a way point, drop a pin or tell me what to bring if I can reach them. I'll stock up on water, fill all my gas cans, propane tanks and head west.

If anyone would like to join me, or if anyone is already thinking the same thing, let me know.

God bless you for wanting to help, and this is going to sound mean, but I would let it settle for a couple of days before making any plans. It is bad over there, and they have enough going on without "unplanned" people coming in to try and help. Like I said im not trying to be a dick, but there needs to be assements done by people already in place before outside help comes in.

@coachcornbread I agree, just trying to get something started. Not sure if I can even make it to the places that need help right now. If we could put a caravan together this weekend and head up Sunday or Monday I'm sure we could do some good.

If anyone on this forum is already part of something and could use an extra truck, trailer, chain saw....anything I'm willing to head that way.

Volunteer for "Baptist on Mission". They will be going there shortly. Great organization to help others. They put you up in a place to stay, provide meals, and provide all of the equipment needed. You provide the labor. I have spent a couple of weeks helping them with previous hurricane damage in eastern NC.

Thanks, I put my information in.

I agree Baptist on Mission is a good organization to be involved with to help after a storm.
My brother is a NC Forest Ranger down east and he is one of 10 they are sending west to help with chainsaws and debris removal. He said they will be based out of Morganton.

It's bad in most places in WNC. I am in NWNC which was not as impacted "as much" and nobody remembers seeing anything like it. I am trying to get that way tomorrow but reports are I can even get into my farm and lines are down with trees on them everywhere. The roads that are undercut and washed away are going to be a problem for quite a while.

@Southern, keep me posted. I assume any help is appreciated. Have chainsaw willing to travel.
Thanks so much. I am waiting to get a report from family who happened to be up there, as to accessibility. They left the farm and went to a motel last night which was smart as power went down around midnight outside of town and the driveway road is washed out in many places so probably have to walk in.

Keep us posted on what help may be needed. My dad lives in Asheville and I havenā€™t been able to reach him yet. He will be my first priority but if heā€™s ok I might be able to help. Depends on my wifeā€™s work.

Damn. Hope heā€™s ok. I did a lot of hardscaping up there in Chunns Cove. Keep us posted

Thank you, I hope all is well with your Dad, they got hammered down that way it looks like. Communications are spotty everywhere in WNC.

My hunting is going to take a beating this year. Mountains are blown/washed away and down in SENC, we are so water logged I cant get in anywhere. I may take up golf.

I have not been there in decades. I assume there are alot of houses downstream that are in jeopardy?
Yes, all along the Green River. Last I heard there are mandatory evacuations. I am here in Rutherford county and we have a huge mess. I have checked @NCbowjunkie and they are fine, his house has a little damage. I cannot get ahold of @Silverback3 to check on him.
