There was a tremendous deer taken in Alamance yesterday with a muzzleloader. Buddy of mine had trail cam pics of him. Waiting to see if if it gets posted up by a fortunate member here.

Reported buck kill is down in Chatham Randolph and Alamance counties over 25% versus the three year average,I picked those as they are three central zone counties closest to me.
I guess everyone is just waiting and not educating them yet, Sorry jug I couldnt help it.

I got a nice un up at the Rock and he is a 4yr old deer . Don't see any point in educating him on me just yet. The acorns are gonna be there till January but these temps will drop soon and he will be cruising.
just for you Jug- on not overhunting- Did you tip this guy off? :) 3:51 mark sums it up- tears up that "you cant kill one from the couch" saying.

My daughter's boyfriend had a hunt planned down in Georgia this weekend but the host called it off cause of the heat.

It's got to be the heat keeping everyone out of the woods around here, its been quiet for muzzleloader opening week. I think the change is coming Tuesday from what the forecast shows a wind direction shift out of the NNE and humidity dropping fast. Freezing temperatures after next weekend

My neighbor has hunted every day since last Saturday. Apparently he took the week off. Have not heard a shot here in Harnett ......yet😉

Central gun opener should be interesting if for no other reason there should be more bucks (than usual) still alive to play with. 😊

I hunted Thursday eve, Fri eve, Sat am/pm, and Sunday am/pm.
Thursday evening I saw a somewhat decent buck, but he was small and young so gave him a pass.
Friday evening I saw a little spike buck.
Sunday evening I saw a small doe/fawn.

The most I heard was 3 shots one afternoon/evening. On a couple sits, I heard nothing.
Still not much going on around here.

Thank God for saturday softball and football or my tale would be as bad as yours.
8pter yesterday am that i have already passed with xbow- small bucks this am and that is it not a doe seen since Friday.
I need me some of these pastures that they come in every day or at least some long range viewing that might increase my sightings- this wood hunting is tough for some reason/reasons.

Starting this morning I'm cranking up the pressure around here. If my legs and back hold up for me I will have a good sit at least once a day if not morning and afternoon the next few weeks. And when they falter I will be hunting from a lawn chair somewhere around the edges or out a barn window. It's time for a buck to show up anywhere at anytime around here now

I hadn’t even seen the trail cam thread just knew it was a fine ML kill when many of us were useless for the whole central season.

I had 10 days of opportunities. With the rut firing up and nearly two months of hunting I opted to hold my last buck tag and gamble on a wildcard. I didn’t want to be out of the action. You never know when a traveling bruiser from 5 miles away comes through. I may regret my decision but I’ll regret it even more if I’m out checking cows and see the myth in broad daylight.

Yes if seeing a buck is an opportunity then with all the sits I had I am sure I could have killed a limit of legal bucks and does during ml

But my herd showed only steers -no bulls and I ain’t shooting heifers and calves. 😜

Maybe so but I’ve never shot anything less than 7 points… I’ve been trying for a monster 6, fork, or cowhorn.
