Yes they are here now. I've seen a few up here in the mountains even.

Completely dependent on the weather (temp).

Best hunts I've had are late December but that's usually when I have a few days to hunt all day and put in the miles.

I like it cold. Most of my hunting has been in January after deer season goes out. I’ve killed them any time during the season though. I think there are mini surges during the migration and you just gotta hit it right.

Recently fell in love with Upland hunting. Love running my pup through the woods and hoping to see a bird. Not looking for spots just wanting to start a conversation. Have you all seen wild birds. Quail, or Grouse in NC in the past few years? If so with any frequency?

I have seen 2 quail and one grouse in North Carolina in the past season. I haven't killed either. I have had significant more success in surrounding states.

In the past 3 seasons, I’ve only seen one quail. But, I’ve been squirrel hunting. So I’m not necessarily looking in the right places.

Would love to join anyone who’s looking for company when woodcock come back in season.

I flushed a covey of like 8 or so last week. Obviously did it after a day of nothing and wasn't so didnt get a shot off.
