Unexpected at legoland

Standing in a line at legoland with the kids earlier this week and spot this guy. Other than the crazy crocs, anyone see anything wrong?

Which rhetorical am I answering?

Looks like it’s in a holster so he’s clear there.

The style of carry? Certainly questionable.

Or the probability that it’s a gun-free zone?

Looks like he has a beard of some sort meaning mask would be ineffective even if he wore it properly, which he isn't there.

Bingo, you're third guess nailed it. Legoland is a gun free zone with signs everywhere. The sad part is you have to go through metal detectors and bag search to get in and somehow he made it through both undetected.

No Mask!

socks with crocks, let alone choice of socks...

bag is a bit feminine but to all their own...

the hat should have a good curve to the bill and we should make sure the price tag is removed...

Not sure I would carry in a kids theme park, let alone have my gun holstered AND stuffed in the pocket of baggy shorts. If chit did hit the fan, this dude would probably end up face down with his shirts at his ankles and a hole in his foot. 🤣

At first glance, I would agree with most of the above.

There's always a chance he has a badge to go with his sidearm.

If not, he's certainly open to violation.

I see me a Felony.

Well I didn't help him there. As much as I hated to report a fellow gun enthusiast, we reported him to security. I had no clue of his intentions but smuggling a gun into a kids theme park didn't give him the benefit of the doubt in my mind.

Security ended up collecting him and his family and escorting them out of the park. The crazy part was it took them 20min to respond and not one of them was armed with anything but a radio. Had the guy wanted to make a scene, it wouldn't have ended well for them.

You reported the guy for carrying in a “gun free zone”? If he got one into a kids theme park, unnoticed, and clearly hadn’t shot the place up and was participating like a normal human, judos to him...... kids are the most vulnerable class.

Dammmn I hope we don’t frequent the same areas...Lord knows I may have missed pesky signs a time or two 🙄😒

You see an armed thug. From the pic, I see a dad that hopes a MFer don’t try but if they do, he knows the world we live in...

Sure we could be more discreet, but I doubt very seriously he was standing in line with I’ll intentions.

I was actually pretty conflicted with if to report it as I've been known to miss a sign or two myself. Had this just been someone standing in a store that had no gun signs up, I wouldn't have thought too much of it and wouldn't have worried too much about it. The part that didn't settle with me was that he had to have gone through a metal detector and bag check to get his pistol in. I see it as no different than seeing a guy in the airport with an open carry pistol past security. Somehow he managed to get it through undetected and we don't know if that was intentional or accidental. It also crossed my mind that he may be law enforcement and if so security would confirm.

Also lets assume it was accidental and he forgot and somehow made it through security before realizing he had it on him. He knew the gun was there by his repeated poor attempts to cover it with his shirt while we were in line. He could have put it in his backpack and no one would have been the wiser. He could have also left the park and put it in his car if it was an oops moment. The fact is he chose to continue to carry it and do so poorly at that.

Also I at no time labeled this guy a thug as you presume. I found how he was dressed more comical than threatening but either way he could have been a fat old white lady and I'd of reported her just the same.

Now do I think he was just gonna pull it out and start shooting people, no. However could I easily forgive myself if I ignored it and something bad transpired, also no. The fact is after playing through all the scenarios in my mind something didn't sit well and I made a decision I felt I could sleep peacefully with. Ultimately I still feel like I made the right decision.

I see a guy whose pants are going to stretch to his shoulder when he tries to unholster that thing.

He obviously has made a poor choice in footwear and carry method, but profiling this individual we can see that he is a father, with wife and son. He's not part of a group of 15-25 year olds, and he doesn't appear to be displaying any other illegal or gang related activity. He doesn't even have any tattoos. His intent is most likely to protect his family.

If this individual is not *likely* a threat to my safety, do I report him to security for breaking the rules of a private business? As Justin pointed out, there have been those on here who say they carry where and when they want to. Though no doubt in a more effective fashion. If an incident did happen, you might wish you had said something. But if it doesn't you just reported a (presumably) otherwise legal gun owner for trying to protect his family. I tend to take the stance that the entity that establishes the gun-free zone is responsible for enforcing it, not me.

Now extend that question to a much broader scale and project into the future that we know is coming.

I don't believe I would have said anything.
