I have been wanting to get my dad on his first bird. He will be 80 this year and deer hunts everyday of the season in western NC just about, but has never turkey hunted. I took him Tuesday and pulled this one in on a string for him

Hunted with a buddy this morning and we both managed to get one. Both NC. Mine was 21 lbs, 10-1/4" beard, inch spurs. Remington 1100 LT 20, Federal TSS 9s, 50 yds. His was 17.4 lbs, 10" beard, 1-1/8" spurs. 12 ga TSS 9s, 35 yds.
Struck him at 1 45ish in my front field.. Got him at 2 37pm gobbling and strutting all the way to meet Miss Susie.

No bird last year and now I’m tagged out!! Called in 4 longbeards and the Lord blessed me .
