Trolling motor transducer

Like to have a live screen/forward facing unit in front of boat.
Oh man…. Where to begin… I’ve got two on my TM….

What all do you want or need to know? Do you have all the equipment (electronics)? Are you looking to buy? It’s a deep rabbit hole.

I have the trolling motor Minnkota Terrova Quest, be something just for front of the boat. Looking to buy.

  • LVS34 unless you can find a LVS32 hiding somewhere
  • GLS10 (the “black box”… converts the image for the transducer to head unit)
  • Head unit. Buy larger than you want or most you can afford. I started with a GPSMap 1022. I went to an Echomap 126sv but didn’t like it. Sent the 126 to the console for Side Imaging. Bought a GPSMap 1222 to replace it. I have the 1222 in forward mode with a lvs34 and 1022 in perspective mode with lvs32. People start with the 93SV and usually end up upgrading in a year if they spend more than 10 days on the water with it a year.
As far as mounting it to the trolling motor, I’m not sure who all makes cable management and mounts for a Terrova. I’d check with Cornfield Crappie, Precision Sonar, Bass Fishing Electronics, The Bass Tank, and Russell Marine. Look and talk to as many people as you can. The Terrova is special in that the way it stowes (at least on the original Terrova) it pulls the motor all the way to “stop bracket” that turns/stops the motor from going down, and needs a little extra engineering to mount anything on the shaft. I think you can mount it to the barrel of the motor on the side though? Maybe other ways but I’m not 100% sure.

As far as a graph mount for the bow, I’d look at all of the above stores/manufacturers, but if I had it to do over again, I’d go with a Beat Down Outdoors and never look back.

I run mine off a 12V 100ah Redodo lithium. You don’t need that much for a single set up. I ran an Amped Outdoors lithium in 30ah for a long time. I do recommend a separate battery though, as it does draw a smidge more than typical 2D sonar, and to ensure you don’t get any sort of interference from any other draws on the battery.

Do NOT use zipties for cable management. There are special zip ties you can use, but I’d recommend Velcro tie-wraps or I just use electrical tape.

If anyone finds any deals on just a screen to upgrade my 93sv for livescope let me know. But yes what Justin said. Don’t go below a 9” screen. I can do it fine with a 9” but would love a bigger screen.

I bit the bullet bought the Livescope plus, comes with GLS10 and LVS34. Also got the 943xsv and a GT20 transducer.

Im going to hook the Livescope to the 943xsv as well as an existing Airmar TM150 transom mount transducer.
I have a half tower on the boat I’m going to keep the existing 840xs that’s up there and connect it to the GT20 on the opposite transom

Hopefully all this will work like I think it will. Any problems you see running multiple transducers on the transom?

Nice! Congrats. I can't speak to running multiple transducers but the livescope will definitely help you learn a lot about fish behavior. Don't let it frustrate you though.
