Having the nerve to let 140” deer go the year before. My best friend has this property and is picky. The big deer, he found his matching sheds this spring and taped out at 146” giving him a 16” spread. He will be one that gets shot if seen. Best we can tell he is 5 yo plus.
He said “you can shoot that 8 point if you see him but I wanna see what he looks like next year if he lives. I may get to hunt it once or twice a year since moving and this farm has produced a pile of big deer. We are both firm believers you can shoot whatever you want but on this farm, he is picky. For good reason. There’s also a giant 7 point that has been MIA for the last two weeks. One of the biggest framed deer I’ve ever seen. 20”+ wide and tall. Only 7 pts tho. But older’n dirt!!

My buddy in Wisc calls them type of deer "Haters"
You hate not to shoot them because of what they could end being in another year, when i hunted there last fall he showed me lots of pictures of decent bucks i wasn't allowed to shoot lol, but a 160" won't become a 180" if he's dead

Lots of people find that with fish also. Can't catch a big bass, until there is a big bass in the pond. Have to release them back. Same with little bucks, take a picture of them and release them to grow. Can't have a 160 class whitetail unless you let them walk at 140...

This is the deer I shot 2 years ago. Scored 162 and a picture of him the year before that. Everything said in this thread is correct.

Awesome deer. Congrats!! I could have killed this buck the last day and choose not too. Not sure what he will score but he has definetly benefited from an extra birthday

Love seeing these types of pics....IF I ever do actually get a buck from year to year(which is rare) usually he just gets bigger in the body and puts very little into headgear.
All those that have places with good genes consider yourself fortunate.

I really enjoy growing good deer but I'm not a big deer hunter. Sad to say I'd much rather spend my mornings standing in a swamp with my dog. I've bought several crossbows and have never been in the woods with one but my gf loves to chase them government goats so I spend most Saturdays and a bunch of $$ feeding them
