That daughter of mine...

She called the other day.

Said she had a few minutes to kill whilst her boots dried out so she didn't track mud in the butcher shop.....

"Dad, it's sad that my vetting process for dating starts with: 1) do they have a job and 2) are they still living at home."

"No, it's not sad, kiddo. It's smart."

VERY smart of her. Unless she wants/needs another mouth to feed and a leech for whatever he needs.....

Next would be ..................

Criminal records search and a credit report.

THEN dads would sleep a "little" better :)

Mine is in trouble then.. but to be fair her bo is still in college. Get to meet the kid later this month, we will see how that goes.
That's where she was at with the last one, but after he got the 4 year, he couldn't seem to apply it to the real world sufficiently.

Her current interest is in school and working, but he's pursuing a forestry degree, which I've labeled acceptable.

I handle the criminal records search......

I also have a tractor and access to various properties.

It’s all down hill once they start sporting bOObs
I remember a buddy of mine as we discussed this "vetting" process. His kids were older than mine, so he was giving me some life lessons lol
He said it gets interesting when you are all sitting there at dinner and as you look at this boy who is dating your daughter, and you know with every fibre of your being, he has touched your little princess's b00bs and to fight the urge to do something about it

I have a buddy with 2 lovely teenage daughters. He says that when a would-be beau comes over to the house for the first time, he invites the boy into his man cave, where he has an array of firearms laid out on his work bench. He then tells the kid "You know, that little girl means the world to me, and I'm not afraid of going BACK to prison".

When mine was younger.I took her bo that i really didnt care for to a deer trail in the greenswamp. I had her ride with a buddy of mine and I took him around and around a few block stopped the truck and we walked in about four or five fith rows and asked I him if he knew where he was . He stammered out no. Without looking at him i told noone else does either remember that. He did make it another week in her life

I would HATE to see the application and vetting process to date you guys daughters. My wife of 30+ years says her Father would have HATED me because I was like him in a lot of ways. Her Mother basically adopted me and we got along GREAT. I miss her.....

Only dads with daughters can relate. Especially when we were all there at some point. Either as a dad or as a kid making the infractions! 😳

My stepdaughter actually did pretty well her first pick after we got to know him. In the beginning though there was a little spat between them before I even met him that sent up a red flag. The first time he came driving in to the house here I was waiting in the shed next to the driveway with a big western Bowie Knife and walked up to the vehicle window before he stepped out. I asked him if he hunted and butchered his own game. It must have had some impact because the young man is now obsessed with handmade quality knives.
Her brother,my stepson was the kind of young man that wanted to still live at home so she needed no better example of what to avoid than her own flesh and blood. Now she's married and that young man has turned out to making me feel a little exited when I hear he's taking the time to come visit. Not often enough being he is always busy managing his parents convenient stores and fuel delivery buisness

Mine too. I’m hating the thought 😂
My oldest daughter will be in collage next year and I another starting high school next year. Both are very pretty, oldest was home coming queen this year and on the court all 4 years. Not sure my youngest will follow in her foot step, not because she is not as pretty but her attitude is much different. You don't know how much I dread it, she gets hit on all the time now.

My son on the other hand is a freshman in collage and I don't have the same worries for him. He is the type of kid that has no secrets so he will tell me more than I want to hear. Just an example... He umpires on the weekends and I asked him last Sunday how it went, great he replied! I was umpiring 8 year old and gave this hot mom my number, she came over and spent the night after the game.... WTH son you don't have to tell me everything!

Blah. Blah, blah, hmmmmmm, pssst, grrrrrr, and that's my final word.
That's what daughter's hear.
Mine will be 45 in December, married to a lawyer who isn't worth a plug nickel and raising my grandkids to be just like him
All I can say is she wasn't raised that way and as she gets older she's becoming daddy's girl again. She's found out that I wasn't such a mean ol ogre after all and all the stuff I warned her about came from experience, not books.

Honest question, how many of you think you truly scared/made those boys nervous?
I never had any girlfriends dads that made any comments of that nature, but I would have been intimidated if they had. Some of these girls mamas scared me more than their dads 😂

My best friend in high school dated a girl in a nearby town whose father was the grand wizard of the KKK. To say the least. That was a bit intimidating
