Looking to get my first suppressor and would like recommendations for dealers near Greensboro that could help with the paper work.

thanks in advance.

Buy it online and ship it to an ffl and save quite a bit. Silencer shop has a list of FFLs you can look up around you. I found one down the street from me doing that. Probably didn't save me anything in the long run cause its too easy to ship guns to him now!

I have a rugged surge and it is a sweet modular can. 30 cal and 5.56 end caps, 7.5 inch or 9 inch length.

If you don't want to wait 7+ months you can make your own using a kit. You would use a Form 1 for the tax stamp, e-filed form 1s are getting approved as quick as 10 days.

I did this but the “solvent trap” kits had become hard to come by. I ended up purchasing parts from different suppliers until I had it all together

I compiled a list of all the ones I found in my search, to save the next guy some time.
Material websites cones, spacers, tubes to the best of my knowledge.

After researching solvent kit I am not comfortable with this option. See link as an example.

Solvent kits are perfectly legal as long as the baffles and endcap are not drilled. Everyone knows what a “solvent kit” is really about and those that don’t follow the proper channels are the reason for the shutdowns. With the proper form 1 paperwork and approved tax stamp you can legally modify the so called “solvent trap” into a working suppressor but NOT without the tax stamp. Having said that I can understand your apprehension, I was the same.

So how does that work about the serial number? Would the number have to be engraved on the filter to be legal?

Yes, when you do your form 1 paperwork you submit your own Model and serial number. That information has to be engraved in the suppressor.
