Sunset Beach NC area

Good mornin fellas, an impromptu trip popped up for me and I’m gonna be down at Sunset Beach for the weekend. Buddy’s got a boat for inshore. I’ve only ever fished there in the summer. I’m not very experienced with salt water fishing or the creatures that live there now. Maybe someone can give a guy a push in the right direction?

I assume there are no shrimp right now so minnow patterns would be best?

Can a guy catch bait this time of year?

I also assume that reds will still push back in the skinny water when tides allow?

what other species are there to target?

not looking to light the world on fire but it would be super cool to catch a red or anything with fins.

any input or advice is greatly appreciated.

Mirror lures and zman shrimp this time of year. Look for suspended fish at creek mouths and shell banks. Trout are here and they been chewing pretty good. You will definitely find a red or two mixed in these areas. Good luck catchem up
