stripped screw

buddy has a s&w bodyguard with the older interlight laser....battery needs replacing, but the tiny screw is stripped.....don't have any taps that small......have tried rockset and a bit to no avail....I think there must be some type of gun cleaner on the head....tried to clean it with acetone and alcohol....still no good....any ideas?....last effort is to drill it out and replace it with a crimson trace.....

Take a needle and try to pick out the residue from screw and try again

Have you tried the Loc-tite thread restore. (Green Stuff)

Try a little bit of heat from a heat gun if you have one.

haven't tried the Loctite green, but did put heat on the rockset.....s&w is sending a pre paid box to send it to them to ck out.....I think they have a lifetime warranty on this gun......I told him to get a sig in the first place...hah

Sorry. I was thinking the Female Threads were stripped, not so much the screw head. If needed, check McMaster-Carr for some left-handed drill bits.
