I’ve got a trip planned over Easter to Ocracoke with the family and wanted to get an idea on what we can expect fishing. I’ve got a lot of experience on the island in the Fall, but never been in March. Words of wisdom? Slot drum a possibility?

I'd say it's almost a certainty if you have any experience. The only thing iffy that time of the year is the weather.

I don’t think pups ever leave Ocracoke. They’re always there if it’s fishable. Something about Ocracoke inlet. SW winds are what you want.

Yep. Slot size fish on soft plastics in the right sloughs if the water quality is good. Otherwise, soak bait through the high tide and cross yer fingers.

If you get some sw wind, your chances are real good. Things are runing a little late this year compared to the past few.
Any update on folks on ocracoke recently?

not trying to be a smartazz but This time of year the bite will fire up and shut down in a matter of hours. Super wind depended until low 60s to mid 60s water settles in for good. Right now one good blow from SW will Fire it up, and a blow from any other direction will shut it down.
