Funny, my son and I were riding around today in Harnett and he was certain he saw a spotted fawn. I told him it's too early but looks like I could have been wrong.

Deer can have offspring any month,

That one is no newborn either, at least 2 months old.

Seen em in November but not this late.....or early. Which would it be?

Yeah I am not suggesting that it was just born. I am guessing it's older than 2 months because being born in mid December would mean it's mom was bred in late May or early June. I think it has been proven that just about anything is possible with deer though.

Using conventional timing, that being a 6 month gestation and fawns losing all spots by around 4 months, she must have been bred sometime around last April. Not unbelievable as scrapes are still being reported currently and some people will report pictures of bucks still holding antlers around that time. She must have been caught up in the 4th rut.

That’s what I was thinking. Born in October, bred in April.
