Thought I would post this picture to show that does get bred within a very large window. A roughly 200 day gestation puts this deer’s conception somewhere around April - May
Yup that's why the ol X.5 year old is bs because nobody knows when the animal was born.

Had a spotted fawn on camera, last year I think, in early January. You never know when they’re going to drop.
It works for 95% of them +\- 1 month.
Just because there are exceptions to the rule doesn’t mean the rule is wrong.

Pics last year of a little spotted fawn around Thanksgiving, probably yearling doe that got bred late but that’s just a guess.
