I seen one in Dec barred owl only way caught it was moved a wing as I was going by otherwise woulda never seen it
Always special to see an owl. We have a pair of Barred Owls around our property and were seeing them pretty regularly this past Spring, but lately I've only heard them.

Get them going in spring they can get real frisky responding to call I've had them follow me through woods good ways in dark looking for the source

I didn't have my camera with me when I saw this one. I took the dogs back to the house and put them up and got my camera. I was lucky to see it in the first place and get back and get the pictures. Over the years I have seen several in the day but never with a camera. I remember one time I had bought a squirrel call- the Mr Squirrel Whistle. I was blowing on that thing and something swooped over my head and it was a large barred owl. He landed about 10 yards from me and he would open one eye then the other looking at me like 'this is one big squirrel'. And no, it never did work for squirrels. I have also seen a few great horned owls over the years. Now that is a big bird.
