Signs of Spring

It's that time of year. With the sun angle waxing, I'm naturally seeing hints of the coming spring.

The week before Christmas, I heard the first doves calling out for love. Those guys get started mighty early every year.

With all the cold weather and the frustrations that this year's fall-winter season brought me, it's been tough to think a lot of spring. But Monday morning I was listening to a flock of birds on the roost, and one of them let out a booming spring-time gobble.

Got the juices flowing.... so I had to start this thread.

Used could say got the midwest catalog but this year all they sent me was a little postcard😁. Patiently waiting see how lottery draws go in some states didn't draw squat last year maybe this is my turn. Alway like see calendar turn to Feb then I can tell myself it's a short month then we'll start scouting in March and all will be right in the world.

Not sure if I can call it a sign of spring just yet but definitely seeing the changes. Heard doves calling yesterday and about had a Robin hit my windshield last week. Forecast 60s and 70s for the next week will have the butter cups poking up around here

I heard the bluebirds making their rounds this morning. Looking at the houses and woodpecker holes around my place.
Always an uplifting sound, they sound like Spring to me.
I was repairing a water line at the base of a hydrant for my mom little over a week ago, the first day it got above freezing. She said there is a bluebird on that fence post but I was laying on a piece of plywood with my head and arms down in the ground thinking it must be something other than an eastern bluebird. I believe she she was right now seeing all the other spring like things happening now

I got mosquito bit and scared a frog off the bank yesterday. I doubt I'll have that issue today. Kinda chilly.
Going to fish later this week where I heard one gobble real good last June.
Maybe he'll holler in February. :)

Took my sister's dog on a walk in a wooded conservation area here in Maryland today. Heard a dove call from nearby and saw a robin fly down into the fallen leaves. Found the wild onions already popping up, a definite sign of spring for me since I enjoy foraging. 😊
