Some rifles don't need the highest quality brass. My custom rifles I use ADG or Lapua. But regular ones I don't see the need to spend twice the money on brass. I refuse to use Winchester or Federal brass anymore tho because they suck in my opinion. Nosler, Norma, Sig make decent brass tho. Even some Hornady has served me well.

If am going through the effort of load development and meticulous reloading, with all the time and effort involved, I’m not going to purposely use lower shelf brass

Except thats not the case here.

Load development was done years ago but component shortages mean you can't always be picky

Friend just wants to load some hunting loads.

I use Sig for my 6.5CM, at the time it was almost all I could find. Out of 100 I had a couple that were deformed. All of them have been reloaded twice and some three times, no issues so far.
