Shad/bream

Looking to get the kiddos out for Shad and bream. We just moved to N.C., near Southern Pines. Is there a decent place within an hour drive to catch Shad with rod/reel? Sorry for the newb inquiry.

depends on how old they are. The closest place (I think) is the powerhouse at Blewett Falls but that isnt a safe place for very young kids.

6 and 4 I would not take them on the walkway at Blewett falls....lock and dam 1 2 or 3 on the Cape fear may be best...
