Any (semi) recent experiences you'd care to share? Weighing this with an inshore fishing trip (which has been our go-to over the last decade).

If you went with a guide on Santee, how was it and what was the balance between quality / quantity?

Just remember that weather plays a big part down there. You are going to be fishing in the thunderstorm season. Be prepared to either set through a thrashing or drive all the way down there and possibly put up with a windy day. I have fished that place a bunch if you aren’t willing to deal with that it isn’t the place for you.

As to guides never used any but rdennis on here used to go every year. You could message him.

We used Captn Pete, went at the end of March in 2018. Overall, it was a slower day than normal, but that is fishing. His boat was good, equipment was good and he put in an honest effort, so I can't complain. We did catch catfish.
