Sandhills Scouting

I went scouting on game land in the Sandhills late this afternoon. Found what looks like a big beaver swamp to me and explored the longleaf pine woods. Felt really good to be out there, like meeting up with an old friend. I will soon be moving back to this area while I job hunt. It may very well be a blessing. I think I kind of missed this uniquely beautiful place.

As a bonus, I saw a wild turkey dart across the sandy road a ways ahead of my car as I was leaving. :D

This beaver pond was relatively easy to walk to, but it's really thick with this stuff all around it. Privet?
