I have 11 days I can fish but where I go Friday is looking too sporty for me. I’m sure there will be a few more bad weather days

Always are this time of year. Would make much more sense to do the "season" in October

Went trolling today looking for nearshore mahi. Trolled from about 70ft of water outside Beaufort inlet to 115ish. Caught and released a few albies, and found a school of blackfins that wouldn’t eat anything. No mahi or water over 80° to be found though. Thinking it might be time to push out to the Gulf Stream to find them again.

Where’s all the flounder pics? With the boat ramp parking lots full and a 1 fish limit I know some of y’all caught some.

Late post, went to NRI on the surf Monday afternoon for a couple hours. Couldn't hardly net finger mullet for all the ballyhoo. 1 big blue and 1 big take down that eventually turned out to be a 5' shark that broke off in the breakers. With the amount of bait in the surf, the bull drum bite should be on fire behind this storm. My dad is going to Ocracoke Sunday.

My son walked in to my office on Friday after school and said, “isn’t it flounder season?”

After I said yes he just turned and left. Two minutes later he was going down the driveway.

15 minutes later he runs up to the door and says, “got one”.

LOL

The boy can fish.

He should have went back down the driveway and got one for you too lol. We fished the first 3 days and had a little boy about 7 with us. He caught the first one Saturday on his second cast. Smallest one kept but he won’t letting us throw it back. He caught me pretty good too one time. Wind blew his line in front of me and he had too much slack. I let my line sit in the water so he could get his in and didn’t notice his line went over my reel and and the same time I saw he felt tension o. His line and set the hook. What a mess 🤣. When I finally got him untangled I felt one on my line and set set the hook. 18” and thanked him. He aggravated his daddy but I had fun fishing with him

I had a pretty cool experience yesterday. I threw the kayak in the water behind the house before dark and was fishing a small zara puppy just about right on the shoreline. I'd made it about 500 yards and had a 2 or 3 lb flounder air out with the spook in his mouth. He didnt get the hook, but it was a pretty dang rare sight to see.

Man! I haven’t minimal saltwater exposure, but I told @Woods and water the other day that watching a flounder hit topwater to crush a popping cork last year was pretty high on my list of cool stuff I’ve seen on the water.
