I love the round! I have one in an AR upper 18in barrel....I just purchased the Ruger American Gen 2 in 6.5, just scoped it, and have not shot it......It is just a perfect round for young hunters and good out to almost 300 on killing deer

Had a predator in the gen 1. Gin shot good and was nothing wrong with it. Just could not stand the zip the bolt made. Got a deal on a new gen 2 and love that gun. Shoots great with most anything I have tried in it, but the 123 sst over benchmark is what I settled on for this year. Have some other bullets I’ll try over the winter and see what they do. It is a hell of a good round. Have yet to kill a deer with it, but I love shooting it

My 123 sst load with benchmark that works best in my Howa is 26.8gr. It is a great range cartridge, but it’ll handle its business in the woods too. It’s perfect for suppressing.

The 16” gen 2 I had shot very well with benchmark and 100 eld, 107 smk and 123 eld.

What barrel lengths are you guys running?

My only issue with the Grendel is lack of speed and shorter range hunting shots. I want another predator but with a can, it’s a long rifle.

I also want a 12.5” upper for my sbr lower

20” Howa. The lack of speed in a shorter barrel won’t be an issue on shorter shots. But I want to be at 1800-2000fps on the low end. With a Hornady factory loaded 123gr SST, I would be over that speed probably out to 300 yards, farther than I would typically shoot.

yeah I have gotten to the point everything I shoot is suppressed. just got the suppressors for my PRCs over the weekend so have to try them out, but my other hunting guns are entirely different beasts when suppressed.

You can polish that bolt on Gen 1, well and Gen 2....saw a guy on YouTube.

The Gen 2’s are much nicer rifles, all around and worth the extra $150-200 over a Gen 1.

That said, this thread has got me to order a 13.9” Grendel barrel for my sbr lower. 😀

I much prefer the Gen 1 over the new one. The bolt noise wears off after a few years. I don’t need a twisted barrel or a muzzle loudener. I’m glad I got a couple of the old ones and I may get another before they get phased out. But I really want either a 22 ARC or a 6mm ARC, so I’ll likely go with the Howa over the Gen 2.

Picked it up today. The barrel is threaded and is heavier than other Ruger American's. I’m considering getting my first can. The mag is a steel AR type 10 rounder. The scope is a Nikon Buckmaster 3-9x40. From my reasearch it's a step up from the cheapened up Buckmaster II. I can't wait to shoot this thing.

Duramag has been threatening to begin selling a three round flush fit AR mag for the Ruger American. Maybe it’ll show up this year. Nice looking rifle.

You’ll wonder why you waited so long to get a can after you experience your first. The Grendel is a superb suppressor host.

Is yours the newer mark 4HD?

I havent had any issues. Ive read where people have, but thats with anything. Its been good so far.
It is. It’s one of the three that was in the drop test. So far so good with my rig. I don’t trust it completely though…Which is a bad feeling. Time will tell.

You are going to love the Grendel.

I think it’s the best cartridge ever made for medium size game. Combination of accuracy, velocity, minimal recoil, minimal report and the ability for it to perform in AR-15 platforms makes it incredibly versatile.

just got a new suppressor for my Grendel. Grabbed a couple of B&Ts from silencer shop with free tax stamps. Will be interesting to see how that can works. It is bigger than the rugged I was running on it. Should be even quieter with the new can. Need to start load development with the lapuas and see what I can come up with.
