Guess they have to compete with the capable, low priced Tisas .
Don't know if I would want an aluminum frame .45 ? not sure what the slide is made ... I hope it is a hardened alloy.

I recently bought one of the A1 Tisas, it's surprisingly well built. Actually built to use all the Colt A1 parts.
I didn't even think about the crappy military style sights before I bought it, I can't see nuthin!

I remember when the sr1911 first came out. It was $500 at my local gun shop. I wanted one soo bad, but didn't have the money at the time. Now they average near a grand. $700 for the all steel is tempting. How long has the light weight been out?

you sure its the sights?
well they are designed for much younger eyes for sure. I added a fluorescent green stripe to the top of the front sight which detracts from the military look but makes it possible for me to acquire a target any smaller than a gallon jug at 30 yards. ;)

I handled the 9mm/38 Super version at a LGS couple months ago, looked nice except for the sights. The buddy who was with me went back next day and got it, and I have been showing him how to field strip and clean it. Nice fitting on parts, but they should have put some white dots on those stainless colored sights.
