With dove opener tomorrow and archery opening next Saturday I got to thinking. Generally every year there is a thread/question about shooting a deer and will it be any good if not recovered quickly in the heat but year after year we shoot dove, throw them in a bucket or bag, let them sit for hours while we continue to hunt but never worry about them. Makes me go hmmm? ?

I use a cooler for a dove stool in the early season. Under a shade tree.

I freeze a 2 liter bottle of water and keep it in a cooler for our birds.

Every bird I shoot goes in a small cooler with a frozen 1 liter drink bottle that’s been filled with water and frozen. However long it takes my dog to bring me the bird is about how long before they go on ice.
