Pay the $15.00 fee online and print off the permit/brochure and you’re ready to roll. I’ve kicked up many a deer(and bear) stomping those thickets. Running out of useable thickets down there, but memories are always made either way
I refuse to pay that fee to hunt until they start charging the bird watchers, bear watchers, bicyclists and everyone else that uses the refuge for recreation /commercial purposes.

That was one thing I really liked about the local wma when I was in Tennessee. They charged various fees for non hunters that used the land. Well, it was a good thought anyway. But to be completely transparent, enforcement was dismal. Ok I take it back…I guess I didn’t like it that much. But 100% agree w you

I agree 100% that everyone who uses the land should pay a fee, always thought the hunters got it stuck to them on that aspect of it. At the same time, it's hard to sit on the sidelines when the only thing stopping me is a $15.00 permit. On another note, I hate to hear how much the deer hunting has gone down hill there. Is the deer population struggling in the entire area or just the overall vicinity of the refuge?

If you are lucky enough to have a pair of woofs on or near your land, they will bring in packs of spayed and neutered coyotes to surround the woofs and near all other wildlife are near gone soon. No fawns and the population dwindles fast.

Usage/license/permit fees used to be a leverage tool, and sportsman crowd vehemently were against it for other users, as a tool to say “our $$ our rules”.

Now they just do what they want anyway, so charge them all.
