Shot this deer at 9:45am this morning 2 miles back on public land. Scouted out a particular area before the season came in and again last week. While I was out last week I noticed large fresh rubs and scrapes that led from bedding to feeding. Set up along this sign on a transition edge between bedding / oak flat. I decided to snug tight on his bedding area and he obliged with a 17 yard shot quartering away while venturing out to check his scrapes. Slipped the arrow just behind his rib cage to find the boiler maker. Great hunt and beautiful weather. I thank the man upstairs for another great day in the outdoors!
