Poults

[Blackwater]

A friend texted me a picture last night of 4 hens with 14 poults up in Northern Gaston. We know of two which fell prey to hawks out of one clutch a couple of weeks ago. These are getting almost too big for a hawk so maybe some will make it.

Got another text picture of his flock yesterday, 4 hens and 12 poults so they seem to be doing better than expected. We were in another property last week dragging chain and flushed 4 out of the treetops but these looked like adults, best we could tell.

Well looks,like the best hatch I have seen in many years, checked cams an 1 has 8. 6 of those are jakes.Old bearded hen has 6 and 4 are jakes, then another hen has 1 much younger poultry maybe a month old.if that the average ther are 7 more hens I have not seen yet that may have a total of 60 new poults hopefully.
