Place to stay in Greenville NC....

That I'm not likely to become a statistic :) Got to go down the first weekend in July to pick up a new pup and will likely have to make a few return trips. Would also be okay with anywhere between Kinston and Greenville. Any suggestions? I haven't been to that specific area in years.

You looking hotel etc there are plenty, anything near the hospital or convention center should be ok.

there's a couple places across from the hospital that should be fine. I would stay west of memorial drive on Stantonsburg rd (264 becomes stantonsburg in Greenville) If on memorial I would stay South of Arlington, maybe a little further.

there's some close to greenville blvd on Memorial drive that puts you across the street from Sakuras Asian Express (best restraunt in town IMO)

Something reasonable for a one night stay, but i'm not pinching pennies
This one is low cost right behind the hospital with a Jimmy John's right in front.

Anything along MLK drive be a good bet ;)

I don't know the area but make sure you trust whoever is giving you the recommendation. Years ago I had to go to Charlotte and I took recommendation from a family member ...... dude was murdered with in 50 yards of my hotel.

I trust Google reviews more

Not Kinston. But they have just built a new one across from Wal-mart here in town behind the Cook-out.

There are a few hardcore socialists on this forum who live in Greenville…surely, they practice “mi casa es su casa”…as such, stay with them for free, eat their food, drive their car while in town…maybe you can even arrange some medical visits while they’re paying for it…give them a chance to practice what they preach

If I had a room I would have offered it. I don't have a room.

anything on Greenville blvd should be fine. I would not venture on the North side of the hospital. Jimmy John's sucks and that is one of the worst sections of Greenville.
Agree 100%. Hilton or Hampton by the convention center is the best bet. One of them allows pets; I think the Hilton. My best friend (we both grew up here) will only stay by the convention center with his 2 Goldens when he visits. He's a world traveler with high standards when it comes to lodging.

I live in GV, but most people I know that travel to GV prefer either Hilton or Hampton Inn (both are beside the convention center). Some of them are Corp guys that do business in Kinston, but they don't stay in Kinston. I know one guy that prefers the Best Western Plus, but he‘s headed to one of the pharma plants when he’s here. Shorter drive for him.

If you do stay at Hilton, Hampton, or Holiday Inn (all 3 right there together), don’t take a run or long walk down Hooker Rd. I know people that will not stop at Walmart (across the road from those hotels) and drive by it to go to the 10th St Walmart.

I don’t live in Greenville, as you know. The last time I stayed in Kinston I was glad I was armed and traveling with a German Shepherd. But, I can recommend Parker’s BBQ for good eats and Kings in Kinston is not bad either. Check out Mackeys Landing gun store for fun.

Yes, that walmart is referred to as the ghetto walmart around here. Kinston is horrible.

Sakuras Asian Express if you want good food. Mediocre bbq can be had in any town in NC. 😛 I think you can have better bbq from some here then anything in a restaurant.
skylight is great if you like bone and gristle. Sam Jones is the same family as skylight from what I understand.

Admittedly it's been a while since I've gone to Skylight Inn, but that wasn't an issue then.
The wife works in Gville and says Sam Jones is good.
Usually if I want BBQ I throw a butt on the smoker and make it myself.
As a lifelong Kinston resident, it's always crazy to me the people that come from miles around to eat at King's.

As other mentioned.....the Hilton or Hampton Inn beside the Convention Center are the only two hotels in town that I would even consider staying in. And, there are lots of restaurants in town worth eating at. Parker's isn't one of them.....not by a long shot.
