Patched Round Ball Loading Blocks For Hunting

Slowly going through and purging years accumulation of muzzleloading items on my laptop.
Thought I'd share this in case its of interest to anyone.

They were handy.....I’ve spent several hours yesterday and again today, reviewing & selectively purging hundreds of items from my laptop that I no longer needed.…documents, websites, photos, etc, that had accumulated over the decades. Brought back a lot of good memories about how much I liked / now miss Flintlock hunting...ran across some hunt summaries I used to make, like this one:

This morning was quiet and mostly still black,
When I heard some leaves rustling and saw the buck’s back;

He was outlined against a very faint Eastern sky,
And I knew that I’d get but only one try;

He was walking real fast, then stopped in the trees,
I raised the .58cal Flintlock up off of my knees;

Because I had practiced so much and a lot,
I knew in my heart I could make this shot;

I set the rear trigger and took careful aim,
To be sure that I wouldn’t just make him lame;

The black English Flint was knapped very sharp,
And the Goex erupted from a shower of sparks;

The Flintlock roared and pushed me back too,
And the Hornady ball flew ever so true;

I touched off the shot and then strained to hear,
Which way he had bolted, was it far…was it near?

I heard no clatter, and no rustling of leaves,
No buck did I see racing off through the trees;

Did I drop him I wondered, for I couldn't see,
So I stood up to look, there he lay in the leaves;

His beautiful rack I could clearly see then,
I counted the points and they came up to 10 !

With the 1770’s Flintlock, I hoped “back in the day,
The Settlers would approve of my learning their ways”.
