Didn’t get a chance to post until today.

Opening morning. First time in a tree stand by herself, first time bow hunting ever. (She 34.... gotta start sometime)

She set realistic goals of just shooting a deer with her bow this season. We sat about 50 yards apart and could not see each other.

We doubled, were field dressed, and out of the woods before 9am.

(That’s not me in the picture, it’s my first mate. Hell of a deer hunter.)

May I ask what is up with the slicing of the throats on each deer

Of course...

She wanted to learn how to field dress a deer in the event that someday she may be on her own and have a long drag to the truck.

I don’t usually field dress unless I’m way down a steep ravine.

When I do it, I put my foot on the head and pull the trachea until it comes loose. She didn’t have the strength so I went old school and cut them at the neck. That’s how dad taught us back in the day, and I’m no expert, so we made it work.

Congrats! I never get anything when I take my wife out hunting. All the deer wander over to her and get killed. ;)
