onset of kidney stones?

Ive done the google search and while it's not a real discomfort yet I have slight "twinge" on my left side. Google said not appendix, that's on the right side.
Constipation - 2 earlier trips today rules that out
An ovarian cyst, pretty sure that's not it either lol

So while it could be kidney stones, that just haven't worked through, am sure at that point I will know without a doubt, as will anyone within listening distance.

Just feels like a cramp, but of course if it stays or gets worse will likely not ask the brain trust of the forum, I might ask random strangers on FB

Do your balls hurt? Dad quit counting at around 72 stones. Normally, that was a complaint. Told a friend that who went to ER cause of a stone. He said, "Bo, I almost asked them for a scapel so I could castrate myself!". FYI

No other pains, just that little cramp and wondered if I am in line for some painful pee's in the future lol

I had a dull ache in my right side for a couple days and then… BAM. Hit me like a freight train. Pain was sharp and intense. But it was the vomiting that I couldn’t control that got me. I felt like I was getting kicked in the balls over and over. I would be fine and then it would hit me and I would vomit uncontrollably for a few minutes.

Pound fluids, get some toradol and zofran if you can. And flomax to open every thing up.

This may sound crazy too some, but a doctor who my wife worked with told her that jumping jacks will aid the process of the stones to move through their cycle….
Fast forward to 2021 I had some stones show up and at 3 o’clock in the morning I’m on our deck doing them trying to get them too pass….
It worked for me. Probably the worse pain I’ve ever felt…..

If it's kidney stones (for me) they start up higher up in my back usually about 4-6" above my belt line and mid way between my backbone and my side. They will stay in that area for a while. I'll admit I have back pain in this area normally so it's NBD. BUT when a stone really gets to ripping and starts moving there there's no question what it's is and it will feel like it is moving over and down. During this time you will be praying for someone to shoot you or hope to pass out. It's a good time for praying because there's a good chance you will be on your knees.

When it's feels more to the front and lower abdomen of course it is resonating down in you groin and most people won't take much of that without some type of pain relief. But the good thing is to that point usually you are fixing to pass it soon.

I never had one in my life to I was 55 years old but in the 16+ years since I have had 20 plus. If I never have another it will be too many.

Time killer — This is pretty much what happened to me - hit by a freight train and nausea. …. Wound up having a lithotripsy procedure after days…

As a frequent flyer with stones, I can tell you how mine start. The pain starts in the kidney area just at the bottom of the rib cage. Mine have ALL been large enough to block the kidney either at the top of the tube or at a bend.

Then the pain can be traced down the tube and into your groin if it moves into the tube. It is every bit as bad as described and I have yet to find a prescription pain pill that helps. Gabbapentin (sp?) helps in the doses you get in the hospital before surgery. I have had the aforementioned nausea and vomiting. That is a good way to get dehydrated quickly. Look for blood in your urine and difficulty in peeing.

You may also have pain urinating. If you get up several times a night, but pee very little volume, that might be a sign. If you start feeling poorly and start running a fever, you may have a UTI or a backed up kidney.

Hydronephrosis is no joke and requires immediate medical attention. I had lithotripsy once and the stone was impacted so deep in tube, all it did was fracture the stone. No bueno.

If it is too large to pass, extraction is no fun. The stint they leave in hurts almost as much as the stone. Just remember, the stone & basket has to pass through your bladder, past the prostate, and out the end of your Johnson. If it is big enough, good luck with bladder control for a few days after that extraction.

Stay hydrated and pay attention to the signs. You can try all the folksy cures, but none have helped me. I have tried beer, lemon juice, cranberry juice, etc. Flomax did not help, but experiences can vary.

Good luck and stay vigilant.

Well so far nothing that is what I would consider pain, just a "stitch" but it's new and thought, hmmm wonder what the beginnings of them are like. Will monitor over the next little bit and then get checked out if things dont change

Any soft drink with a fizz are the culprit usually….
I stopped drinking them a few years ago and honestly can't remember why I started back. At the time I would drink a redbull in the morning, water the rest of the day and a few beers from time to time on the weekend.

When I have had them it is usually a dull ache starting in my back then moving around my side. It hurts there is not position you can get yourself in to ease the pain. After it got in the bladder my pain went away until I passed it. This all depends on the size of the stone.

I found relief from stones by getting on the riding mower and driving slowly over exposed, above ground roots under the big maple behind the house. I'm not doing the mower any favors, but (most of the time) the beating and jarring causes the stones to stop obstructing the ureter. Trouble with me is that I grow stones in my right kidney, but they won't pass. They get so big, that they stay in the kidney, then they obstruct flow, and it hurts like 40 hell. I've had lithotripsy done several times, which doesn't work more often than it does. You still have to pay for the procedure even if its a failure. At that point, the only thing left is for the urologist will go up through the root to your kidney and pulverize them with a laser. Afterwards, They put a stent in to keep your pipes from collapsing. After several days, they pull the stent and you pee what feels like glass shards for a few more days. I've been there a couple times and it actually doesn't hurt as bad as the stones did, but it hurts the bank account bad enough.

The best advice you got was to start drinking a lot of lemonade made from real lemons. If your pee has any color, you need to drink more. If your stones are calcium oxilate, leave the Tea, Ovaltine (it's the worst), hot chocolate, and soft drinks (especially those with caramel coloring) off the menu. Herbal tea is fine if you can stand it. Be careful what you eat too. I had to give up figs, spinach, chard, most nuts, and chocolate. You should minimize cheeses and beer too (dammit).

Dobber, I hope it's not stones for your sake. I don't understand why they exist in the first place, though they helped me invent a few new swear words along the way. One of my wife's friends has had children and kidney stones, and she says the stones were more painful than childbirth. Feel better, man.

Well the dull ache in the back and other symptoms people have noted is a good help, I dont have any of that stuff, just that cramp in the same spot, for all I know the wife punched me while sleeping, which is plausible reasoning since I was away for 2 weeks just to come home and let her know I am heading off again lol
